5 months old!

5 Months!  Jack is changing everyday.  He continues to be a happy baby and is now full of laughter!  He is incredibly social and loves being around people.  We've been to the doctor's office a couple of time for sick visits: when the doctor walks in and Jack won't stop smiling and laughing at them, its hard to convince them he is actually sick!

Speaking of sick, Jack is just getting over his first ear infection (hopefully not an ongoing issue....).  He was under the weather for a couple of days last weekend but then bounced back really well.  Unfortunately, he then passed the day care bug to mom and dad who took it hard!  I (foolishly) assumed any virus he got would affect his immature immune system much more than ours.  Boy, was I wrong.

We're finally making a step with his helmet.  After confirming that he doesn't have a fused skull, and then getting re-fitted for the helmet, the insurance company has finally contacted us that they will not be covering any portion of the (pricey) helmet.  Well, more than 10 days had passed since that fitting, so we will be going back tomorrow for the final fitting for the helmet that we will be paying out of pocket.  Bummer.

Jack is about 16lbs.  He is just starting to think about saying some consonants (I hear a D every once in a while), still drools a lot and puts everything in his mouth, rolls freely from tummy to back and is about 95% rolling from back to tummy, sits up on his own very briefly, and is now just starting to eat solids with success.  So far he likes oatmeal, prunes and green peas.  Bananas he could give or take.  He still is an amazing sleeper: not a peep through the night and sleeps two solid 2-3hr naps a day.  He, however, is not the best eater.  He is preferring the bottle to nursing (possibly because the bottle takes much less work and possibly because nursing may be more uncomfortable with his reflux and/or ear infection) but even with the bottles at school it's hit or miss whether he'll finish them.  Not sure where he inherited that from since mom and dad are BIG eaters.

Mom and dad are also starting the house hunt for Jack's childhood home!  Its definitely going to be an exciting year.
