Doctor fun

Went in for another ultrasound today and got same face shots with 3D.  The first one has the umbilical cord obscuring the left side of his face and the second one has his hand up near his nose.  Apparently he also already has a full head of hair- they measured his hair to be as long as 7mm (take note, this is not a normal measurement they take, but the ultrasonagrapher was so amazed at his wooliness that she felt a measurement would be appropriate. :-)

Given we moved cities in the middle of this pregnancy and the fact that our current practice has us meet with a different doctor at each visit, not to mention we met with a maternal-fetal medicine specialist today because there were some concerns about kiddo being small, we have met our fair share of obstetricians and it is truly amazing the various different approaches to talking to patients and varieties of "bed-side manner" we have witnessed.  We've had everything from the "old school, less is more" approach, to the "excessive, nervous talker".  With both of us being doctors ourselves, it makes us sit back and really evaluate how valuable (or detrimental) that 10-15 minute conversation with a patient (or in our case client) can really be.

Kiddo is on the small side of normal, however we're thinking that the initial concerns may have proven to be a little bit of an overreaction.  Nevertheless, we'll be going in for another maternal-fetal ultrasound in a few weeks to keep an eye on things as he is on the cusp of there being a concern.
